Hints

The Warrior Code:

• Defend your Pack, even with your life. You may have friendships with wolves from other Packs, but your loyalty must remain to your Pack, as one day you may meet them in battle.
• Do not hunt or trespass on another Pack's territory.
• Elders and pups must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders.
• Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.
• A pup must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.
• Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.
• A wolf cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.
• The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies or retires.
• After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.
• A gathering of all four Packs and the one Clan is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Packs at this time.
• Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing wolves.
• No warrior may neglect a pup in pain or in danger, even if that pup is from a different Pack.
• The word of the Pack leader is the Warrior Code.
• An honorable warrior does not need to kill other wolves to win his battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or it is necessary for self-defense.
• A warrior rejects the soft life of a doggypet.

• Borage Leaves- Helps fevers and queens to produce milk
• Burdock Root- Helps rat bite infections
• Broom- When used as a poultice, it helps heal broken bones
• Catnip(Cat mint)- Helps white cough, green cough, and calms cats
• Chamomile- Calms cats
• Chervil- Helps regain strength and bellyaches
• Chervil Root- Helps infections
• Chickweed- Helps green cough
• Cobwebs- Stops bleeding
• Colts foot- Helps kitten cough
• Comfrey- Helps heal broken bones
• Daisy Leaves- Helps aching joints
• Dock- Helps soothe scratches when chewed up
• Dried Oak Leaf- Stops infections
• Fever few- Helps fevers and head pains
• Goldenrod- When used as a poultice, it helps aching joints, stiffness, and severe injuries
• Honey- Helps sore throats
• Horsetail- Helps infected wounds
• Juniper Berries- Helps bellyaches
• Lamb's Ears- A strengthening herb
• Lavender- Cures fever
• Marigold- Helps infections and heals wounds and sores
• Mouse Bile- Removes ticks
• Nettle Leaves- Counters poison
• Ointment of Yarrow- Helps cracked pads
• Poppy Seeds- Numbs pain and makes cats drowsy
• Ragwort- When in a poultice with juniper berries, it helps aching joints and is also a strainthening herb
• Stinging Nettle- Brings down swelling
• Tansy- Helps coughs
• Thyme- Calms cats
• Water mint- Helps bellyaches
• Wild Garlic- When rolled in, it helps keep out infections
• Yarrow- Makes a cat vomit, to expel poison, for example

NOTE:

• Death berries- Red berries that can be fatally poisonous to kits and elders. They are NOT a medicine.

Measurements:

• Mouse length = About an inch
• Puppy step = Less then an inch
• Tail-length/Rabbit length = About a foot
• Fox length = About a yard
• Whisker length = Over an inch

Warrior Ceremony:
Leader: I Firestar, leader of Forestpack, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. (She/He) has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend (him/her) to you as a warrior in (his/her) turn. _________paw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?
Apprentice: I do
Leader: Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name, ____________, from this _____Clan.
(The leader rests his or her muzzle on the apprentice's head. The apprentice then licks the leader's shoulder. The rest of the Clan then greets the new warrior by calling him or her by their new name. The warrior will sit a silent vigil guarding the camp that night)

Dying Apprentice Ceremony:

If an apprentice is dying and deserves his/her warrior name
Leader: I ask my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. (He/She) has learned the warrior code and has given up (his/her) life in service of (his/her) Clan. Let StarClan receive (him/her) as a warrior. (His/her) name will be __________, because _____(reason)____. Let StarClan receive him/her by the name of __________.
(The leader touches the apprentices head)

Name Changing Ceremony:

Leader: Spirits of StarClan, you know every wolf by name. I ask you to take away the name from the wolf you see before you, for it no longer stands for what (he/she) is. By my authority as Pack leader, and with the approval of our warrior ancestors, I give this cat a new name. From this moment (he/she) will be known as ____________, for _____(reason)____.
(The leader rests their muzzle on the cat's head. The cat licks the leader's shoulder. The rest of the Clan greets the cat by their new name. There is no vigil or special task)

Elder Ceremony:

Leader: ___________, is it your wish to give up the name of warrior and go join the elders?
Warrior: It is.
Leader: Your Clan honors you and all the service you have given us. I call upon StarClan to give you many seasons of rest.
(Leader lays his/her tail on the new elder's shoulders, and then the elder bows his/her head. The new elder then joins the other elders)
Medicine Cat Apprentice Ceremony:
Medicine Cat who will be teaching the new Medicine Cat Apprentice: ___________paw, is it your wish to enter into the mysteries of StarClan as a medicine cat?
Medicine cat apprentice: It is.
Same Medicine Cat: Then come forward.
(pauses as the new apprentice approaches the stone/pool)
Same Medicine cat: Warriors of StarClan, I present to you this apprentice. She has chosen the life of medicine cat. Grant her your wisdom and insight so that she may understand your ways and heal her Clan in accordance to your will.
(Then, all medicine cats and their apprentices, including the new one, come forward and share dreams with StarClan in the normal manner.)

Medicine Cat Ceremony:

Medicine Cat: I,________, medicine cat of Forestpack, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He/She has trained hard to understand the ways of a medicine cat, and with your help he/she will serve his/her pack for many moons. _________paw, do you promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, to stand apart from rivalry between Clan and Clan an to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life?
Medicine-Cat-To-Be: I do.
Medicine Cat: Then by the powers of StarClan I give you your true name as a medicine cat. _________paw, from this moment you will be known as ______________. StarClan honors your (virtue) and your (virtue), and we welcome you as a full medicine cat.
(The medicine cat rests his/her muzzle on the top of the new medicine cat's head and the new medicine cat licks his/her shoulder in respect. The other medicine cats chant the new medicine cat's new name.)
